Play Sports and Fitness
Active Landscapes can help you choose the perfect option(s) for your outdoor space, combining safety with accessibility and a lower maintenance requirement.
Playgrounds an Play Equipment
Though we are an independent organisation, we have worked closely with all of the major suppliers and manufacturers of playground and leisure equipment, and can help you find options that are tailored to your needs perfectly. We only use or install equipment that is fully EN and BS certified, and can have custom-built pieces independently inspected for quality and safety. A wide variety of different designs and materials are possible.
More and more, we hear that adults and even children are failing to get the levels of physical activity and exercise that doctors recommend. The health effects of this have been devastating, and many councils, schools and even private organisations have responded by creating ‘green’ gyms and exercise areas that are either open to the public or to their own employees.
Outdoor gym’s encourages casual, free use which can be a huge draw for disadvantaged members of the community or those who simply cannot commit to regular gym visits.
There are a huge number of solutions available to you, from galvanised and powder coated calisthenics combinations, dynamic body weight machines which favour the differently-able and mobility-impaired, more traditional strength and cardio equipment or fully load adjustable dynamic units. No matter what your budget or the projected needs of the facilities users, the perfect solution is out there. Active Landscapes can help you find it.
Multi Use Games Areas (MUGA) and sports pitches
MUGAs are excellent ways to confine various ball games and similar dynamic activities to a particular area. In schools this enables you to move football games inside the fence line which frees up the rest of the play area for pupils wanting to take part in other forms of play. Active Landscapes has many years of experience configuring MUGAS and courts to work effectively in even the most awkward areas.
Many aspects of a MUGA can be adapted to improve accessibility for those with mobility issues, visual impairment, or other special needs.
Skate and Bike Parks
We can design and install a wide variety of ramps, rails and other features to create an outdoor space where bikers, skateboarders and enthusiasts of similar sports can enjoy themselves. These areas can be configured to appeal to all levels of ability, form absolute beginners to near-professionals.
One of the most important choices you will make when designing your outdoor play or leisure space is what surface. We offer a wide range of surfaces, including the following:
GrassLok – Interlocking recycled PVC/rubber tiles designed specifically for use as a safety surfacing underneath play equipment. The tiles allow existing grass to grow through which can then be mown. Using the appropriate system this method can achieve upto 3m critical fall height however each site will have to assessed on its individual characteristics.
Bonded Rubber Mulch – Sheds of recycled rubber which is colored and then bound with a specially formulated PU binder. Unlike Wet Pour, it does not require a sub base or any edging. This product can be provided in a range of colours and depths depending on the required free fall height.
Loosefill – Loose-fill safer surfacing has excellent impact absorbing properties and combines well with many units to give a warm, natural appearance. Initial costs will be much less than that of its bonded rubber alternatives however the maintenance aspect is usually much greater.
Wet Pour – Wet Pour is a continuous rubber surface that gives a high quality, hard wearing, slip-resistant surface requiring little or no maintenance. Mixed on site, the rubber EPDM granule and polyurethane resin mixture is wet laid to various thicknesses onto a prepared area. This product is available in a large variety of colours and can also be laid with shapes, logos, games or themes.
Synthetic Grass – Synthetic Grass from Active Landscapes gives you an advanced technical performance in a surface that looks, feels and plays like the real thing. Ideal for play areas where you might wish to maintain a more natural look or a surface which is tactile for nursery and early year children, with the correct sub base synthetic grass can achieve up to 3m critical fall height.
Synthetic grass is ideal for a large number of sports applications. The key is in understanding the requirements of the surface and the level of maintenance the client wishes to take on
